I’ve been a writer as long as I can remember.
Until the day she died, my grandmother carried a poem I wrote when I was five years old, tucked in her wallet. Although I’d never dare call myself a poet, I’ve always been enamored with the written word—the way that lines formed letters, letters formed words, and words formed sentences.
And when those sentences were strung together, they had tremendous power. They could explain complex ideas and make them understandable. They could create worlds that only existed in the author’s and readers’ imaginations. They could make you feel something.
Knowing this power, I’ve never wondered why God chose to reveal Himself through the written word—or why His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, is the Word: the One through whom all things were created.
What Is a “Word Steward”?
“The Word Steward” holds different meanings. As a ghostwriter/collaborative writer, editor, and writing coach, I steward other people’s stories, helping shape them into the creations they’re intended to be. As an author, I often write about my personal journey, as well as my faith and things I’m learning from God’s Word, thus stewarding His truths.
The concept of stewardship shows up in many areas of my life—including parenting—and I’ll share more about that in upcoming blog posts!
Why Start a Blog?
Almost two decades ago, I started a blog. I posted… oh, four times, maybe? That was in a very different season of my life, one in which consistency was a completely foreign concept to me. (The reason for that lack of consistency is a tale for another day…)
Since then, I’ve successfully written numerous books, whether as a ghostwriter/collaborator, coauthor, or sole author. That accomplishment has convinced me that yes, I can consistently write. And honestly, the accountability will motivate me. If people are expecting me to post each week, then by golly, I’d better be posting each week!
In this space, I’ll riff on various topics, including but not limited to life as a mother, pastor’s wife, author, and editor; faith; mental health; writing; and books. And probably cats.
Why Start a Blog Now?
The answers are simple:
- I’ve been longing to do more of my own writing, and blogging is the easiest way to share what’s on my heart and mind with the world.
- I’m publishing my first book, One Nation Under God: 40 Devotions for Patriotic Women! Other than my monthly newsletter (psst—sign up here!), a weekly blog is the most efficient way to keep you up to date on everything related to my book launch.
Thank you for reading and for joining me on this grand adventure!
With love in Christ,
Amanda

My heart is overflowing with a good theme;
I recite my composition concerning the King;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
